Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium & Pupil Premium Plus

Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Current Pupil Premium Funding 2024-2025 stands at £1,480 for Key Stage 2 and £1,050 per eligible child for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

For the academic year 2024-2025, payments are sent to High Well on:

  • 28 June 2024
  • 30 September 2024
  • 31 December 2024
  • 31 March 2025

Pupil Premium+ is additional educational funding given to schools or virtual schools for children who are ‘looked after’ or in care, plus those children previously looked-after. Funding for this cohort of children was originally covered by the Pupil Premium, but it was soon recognised that this group had additional needs due to gaps in learning and life experiences impacting their ability to learn. PP+ increased the funding for ‘looked after’ children and came into effect in 2014. Pupil Premium Plus Funding 2024-2025 stands at £2,570 per eligible child.

Funding can be spent on the following areas

  1. Teaching

Investing in high-quality teaching, for example:

  • training and professional development for teachers
  • recruitment and retention
  • support for teachers early in their careers
  1. Targeted academic support

Additional support for some pupils focussed on their specific needs, for example:

  • one-to-one tuition
  • small group tuition
  • speech and language therapy
  • Alternative Provision
  • Devices
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Educational Psychologist Services
  1. Wider approaches

Support for non-academic issues that impact success in school, such as attendance, behaviour and social and emotional challenges.

For example:

  • school breakfast clubs
  • counselling to support emotional health and wellbeing
  • help with the cost of educational trips or visits
