Attendance
Here at High Well School we strive for all students to have good attendance and aim to attend every day. We believe that attending school regularly is vitally important to your child’s future. If your child is absent from school they will obviously be missing lessons and learning opportunities. We understand that in some instances your child may be absent due to illness or exceptional circumstances, if that is to occur we would advise all parents/carers to call on the first day of absence and any further days from then. Vanessa Robinson is our school’s Attendance/Family Liaison Officer and will make a first response call if school is not aware of the reason of your child’s absence. If your child is not seen within school for 2 days and contact has not been made, a home visit may be completed by Vanessa Robinson and Sandra Shaw (DDSL) to complete a welfare check. We believe that every student should strive to achieve 100% attendance, and robust systems are in place to support families and children in achieving this goal. We reward our students for outstanding attendance in a number of ways, to promote a strong work ethic and prepare our students for life beyond school. We want to maximise the future chances for all students.
Term-Time Holidays
If you are planning to take your child on holiday during term time we ask that a Holiday form is completed and sent in to Vanessa Robinson 4 weeks prior to the start date of the holiday. From this a decision will then be made by the Headteacher regarding the authorisation status of the holiday request. From this you will then receive a letter explaining the decision made. We do ask all parents and carers to make a conscious decision when booking holidays as we believe it is crucial that your child attends school to decrease the chance of falling behind in learning and missing out on opportunities within school.
If you require a holiday from please contact Vanessa Robinson.
