Recruitment

Staff Vacancies

High Well is a special school for one hundred pupils aged between 9-16 years with an Education, Health and Care Plan for Profound/Severe Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH).   At High Well we aim to prepare every pupil for a positive future.  Our core purpose is to develop our pupils’ academic, social and emotional skills so that each pupil leaves us ready and equipped for further education, employment or training, knows how to keep themselves safe, and is able to contribute to society.

Many of our pupils come to us having experienced disruption to their school life, often from an early age.  At High Well we aim to provide stability and consistency for both pupils and parents/carers in order to overcome barriers to learning through supporting and teaching our pupils how to manage and regulate their emotions and feelings.  Thorough and robust assessment ensures that we identify what each pupil already knows and where there are any gaps in their learning/development.  This allows us to plan to meet individual pupils’ needs and ensure that every pupil makes good or better progress.

We have a fantastic staff team with a range of expertise who are committed to our ethos of Preparing for Positive Futures, and work hard to ensure the best possible quality of education for each pupil.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact the school if you require further information or visit our High Well School website by visiting: https://www.highwellschool.org.uk.  The school application form, job description and associated documents are attached to the advert.

Our website aims to give you a taster of what High Well is about as well as a range of useful information, including our social media tweets, latest OFSTED report, handy tips to support you in fully completing your application form and much more!

It is an offence to apply for a post if you are barred from engaging in Regulated Activity relevant to children.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. An offer of employment will be subject to the receipt of a satisfactory enhanced level DBS disclosure with a children’s barred list check, two satisfactory references and successful completion of vetting procedures.

In accordance with the statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), an online search will be conducted as part of due diligence on shortlisted candidates.

We are committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and candidates with a disability who meet the essential job criteria will be given an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities at interview.

For all recruitment enquiries please contact Michael Davis, HR Manager by emailing HRManager@highwell.org.uk or calling school on 01924 572100.

Please note that applications by a CV alone will not be adequate, and all successful candidates will be subject to suitability referencing including an Enhanced DBS check prior to any appointment being confirmed as unconditional.

You can view our TES Employer page here.

Teaching Assistant

We are looking to recruit several Teaching Assistants, some of whom may work on a 1:2:1 basis or be classroom based.  These roles will be offered on either a fixed or permanent basis and will play a crucial role in the support, teaching and learning of our students. We believe that this presents a great opportunity for exceptional individuals to join our dedicated and highly skilled school team.  We were last inspected by OFSTED in 2022 as a ‘Good’ school.  Just like our long-term members of staff you will have many great opportunities to develop your career at High Well as we invest heavily in staff development and be provided with access to tailored HR, CPD and support services – We always support your wellbeing and even give you a paid day off for your birthday!

GOVERNING BODY

We are always looking for people to join our excellent governing body

We welcome new Governors to join our Governing Body at High Well School.  If you are interested, please contact Michael Davis by emailing: HRManager@highwell.org.uk

Term of office as a governor will last for 4 years and during this time, you’ll be there to help the school be the best it can be for our pupils.

As a new governor, it can feel a bit overwhelming when you first start, but rest assured, you are not expected to know everything right away.  To help, we have an induction pack to help you get up to speed, plus we will assign you a mentor who’ll be on hand to answer any questions you have.

As a governing body our job is to make sure:

  • Everything our school does is aligned with our school’s vision, ethos, and strategy
  • We hold the school leaders to account, and
  • We monitor the school’s finances

To fulfil these functions, we meet regularly as a board during the year (6 times per academic year) as a full governing body.

Committees (Standards and Resources) also meet before main Governing Body meetings.  It is the most enjoyable and interesting way to be involved as a governor, and where you can have the greatest impact.

If you are interested in becoming a Governor at High Well School, we recommend you:

  • Ask your workplace about time off for governor duties (if applicable) as governors are allowed paid release time for public duties.
  • Read the Governance Handbook from the Department for Education (DfE) https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/governance-handbook
  • Read the school’s latest Ofsted report and development action plan (to view, please click on the Ofsted tab on this website)
  • Read the school’s policies (to view, please click on the Policies tab on this website)
  • Familiarise yourself with the school by looking at our website
  • Research recent news items on school governance and education

For further information, please contact HRManager@highwell.org.uk or contact the school on T. 01924 572100 and ask to speak to the HR Manager or another member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Thank you!
